Choose a base for the trip you are taking

The most central hotel is not automatically the best hotel. Plaza de Armas is convenient for first-time sightseeing, San Blas offers atmosphere with steeper lanes, and quieter neighbourhoods can provide better sleep and easier vehicle access. Check the actual walking route, not only the straight-line distance shown on a booking map.

For the first night, prioritise a reliable airport transfer, heating, hot water, luggage help, and a route that does not require a steep climb. Travellers continuing to the Sacred Valley or an early train may benefit from splitting the stay. Read cancellation terms closely and confirm whether breakfast begins early enough for your planned departures.
